“We are very pleased about being one of the 24 teams that participate in the European Championship. Our opponents in the pool are extremely strong and their players are of high level. Our main goal is to fight for every point and give our best. Since May 2018, when I took over the Greek national team, I see my players playing with great enthusiasm in order to contribute to the results of the group and that is what I expect from them and myself in Montpellier as well”

Dimitrios Andreopoulos
Head Coach of Greece

The coach who led the Greek team to the final phase of the European Championship after four missed opportunities is Dimitrios Andreopoulos, who was a member of that legendary team that seized the bronze medal in 1987. Since May 2018, when Andreopoulos took over the reins of the team, he has taken his side to the bronze medal from the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, to six straight wins in the EuroVolley qualifiers and to the final of the European Silver League in June 2019.
