Men

Poland

Poland men’s national Volleyball team are the reigning double world champions and, overall, three-time winners of the World Championship (1974, 2014, 2018) and the 1976 Olympic champions. They are thus members of an elite group, as only two more countries – Brazil and Italy – can currently boast three gold medals from the World Championship to their names (Russia’s all six titles were won by the former USSR).

The White-and-Reds also have a showcase of other world competition medals including World Championship silver (2006) and World Cup silver (1965, 2011) and bronze (2015). At the European level, Poland has reached for the crown once, in 2009, came in second at each of the five editions held between 1975 and 1983 and finished third in 1967 and, most recently, in 2011.

When taking over the team in 2018, Vital Heynen promised to win an Olympic medal and this time next year we will know if he is able to deliver on this promise.  Before that though they will be looking to be confirmed as best team on the continent at the EuroVolley 2019.
