The 8th Finals of CEV EuroVolley 2019 Women produced some relatively easy wins for some of the top sides in Europe, but Turkey had to live a drama before pulling off a 3-2 victory over Croatia to secure their spot in the quarterfinals. Their captain Eda Erdem Dündar was Sunday’s most outstanding performer across the four countries hosting a history-making EuroVolley.

In a truly dramatic match, where Turkey had to fight their way back, Eda Erdem Dündar scored as many as 26 points – an incredible tally for a middle blocker – to help her side secure a spot in the quarterfinals where the hosts will be playing against the Netherlands.

Eda was once again the absolute leader of the ‘Sultans of the Net’, taking her side by the hand in the most difficult moments and motivating her teammates with her unique charisma and fighting spirit.

She – together with Fatma Yildirim, who joined the game in the fourth set – was highly instrumental towards Turkey’s 3-2 victory in what was a drama of a match.
