Las Leonas del Vóley want to roar again on the European stage as they return to play at EuroVolley after a break of six years. This achievement completes years of hard work, but Spain are still vying for their breakthrough in a major international competition.

Full Team List

“The European Championship was the major goal of this team for years. Being back this year is a reason of pride and we must use this opportunity to continue growing and be aware of all the work that we still have to do if we want to stay at that level.”

Helia González
Captain of Spain

The Spanish women’s national team has a promising list of young players who want to continue to grow as a team after qualifying for the European Golden League Final Four this season. Spain will be making their sixth EuroVolley appearance, with their best result to date the ninth place they claimed in 2009. Moreover, Las Leonas del Vóley played at the Olympic Games of Barcelona in 1992 and had one participation in the World Championship back in 1982.

“The team has come out much stronger from the European Golden League, so we really want to go to the European Championship with much desire to continue with the increasing trajectory that we have been following in these last few years. Our goal will be to qualify for the knockout round, and to achieve that goal, we will have to win two or three matches. We will face the group phase with this in mind.”
