SEVEN Questions with Elitsa Vasileva

The start of the CEV EuroVolley 2021 Women’s competition is less than two weeks away! With time ticking until the opening two matches of the tournament, Bulgaria vs Greece and Romania vs Turkey, scheduled to take place on 18 August, both starting at 7:30 PM CEST, we have reached out to EuroVolley Ambassador and Bulgarian star Elitsa Vasileva to ask her seven important questions.

Question 1: What do you imagine it will feel like playing at EuroVolley 2021 on home court, in front of a very enthusiastic crowd?

Elitsa: "I am very excited and been waiting for this since the day they told us we are going to be one of the teams hosting the European championship. It is a big honor and I can imagine the atmosphere that our crowd can bring.”

Question 2: What is the most exciting thing about your national team going into this tournament?

Elitsa: "The thing we are most excited about is exactly the people who will come to support us. They will give us their time, buy thickets and give us their emotions. We will play for them.”

Question 3: Who are the leaders of your team and how would you describe their role?

Elitsa: "I think most important for us is the team spirit. Everyone can be a leader on the court when they are surrounded by people supporting their every action in the match.”

Question 4: Who do you think will be the “surprise” of the tournament from your team, a player that will impress through their performances on the court?

Elitsa: "I hope that all the young players can show their potential.”

Question 5: Who do you think will be winning medals at EuroVolley 2021?

Elitsa: "I can’t make any prognosis about the finals, but of course I would like us to be there too.”

Question 6: Who do you believe will be the MVP of the competition?

Elitsa: "The player that has had their best performance in every match of this long tournament.”

Question 7: If you were to pick your All Star team of EuroVolley 2021, who would you choose?

Elitsa: "Here are my picks!"
