Overview
Croatia started their home #EuroVolleyW campaign in Pool C on a high note with two straight-set victories over Switzerland and Belarus. The team under guidance of Daniele Santarelli has shown so far very well-balanced game led by their young setter Klara Peric. On the other side Slovakia will play only their second match. After losing in four sets to Hungary on Friday, they had time to analyse own mistakes and fully recover to play today with freshness.

Beta Dumancic“We are obviously happy with the third win in a row. I cannot say that we expected to start the championship this way, as that might sound arrogant, but we have been working very hard for this – so our success does not come as a surprise. We probably felt some pressure at the beginning of the match – as much as we did with the previous ones, but we found our flow and everything went well. We now have a rest day, will prepare for Hungary and after that think of the match with Italy."

Karin Palgutova“It really is a pity that we started the first set very well and did not win it. We were leading by five or six points and in one rotation we got stuck. They pushed us really hard. Afterwards, it was harder and harder for us. I think, it is already the second game we are blocked so often. We struggled to find good solutions to put the ball down, we attacked straight into the block, so it becomes easy for the opponent to defend and it is mentally tough when you are blocked so many times.”
