Tie break win for Romania over Bosnia & Herzegovina and important win for Switzerland over Croatia in Pool B. Behind undefeated Italy the battle for the Eight-Finals' spots is on
Pool B’s teams back on court in brand new location at Palazzetto dello Sport Gianni Asti in Torino, after one day of rest.
First game at 18 was Romania versus Bosnia & Herzegovina, a huge battle between two teams who are still on track to reach Eight-Finals.
First set was for Bosnia & Herzegovina with a good performance by Iman Isanovic who drove the Balkans to the 25-12 win in first.
In second Romania fought back grabbing the tie by winning 26-24 the set and taking the lead by winning 25-21 third set, thanks to an outstanding offensive performance by Adelina Budai-Ungureanu. Fourth set was for Bosnia & Herzegovina with an huge effort by Edina Begic, forcing the game to the tie break, the third for the Balkans in this Pool B.
The previous two tie breaks were victorious for Bosnia & Herzegovina, but in tonight's fifth set was for Romania who took home the win 15-11.
23 points for best player of the game Budai-Ungureanu, second best scorers were Rodica Buterez and Elizabet Inneh both with 19 points. Best scorers for Bosnia & Herzegovina were Edina Begic with 18 points and Maja Lasic with 14.
With this important win Romania tied Bosnia & Herzegovina with 2 wins and 2 losses in Pool B.
Second game of the day was Croatia-Switzerland, two teams who needed a win to remain on track for an Eight-Finals’ spot.
It was a good start for Lauren Bertolacci’s team, who won first set 25-19 with a great team effort, but Croatia tied the game by winning easily second set 25-16, thanks to a good performances of Andrea Mihaljevic.
In third Switzerland stepped up again with a great Maja Storck, who took on her shoulders Lauren Bertolacci’s team grabbing the 25-22 win in third.
Also in fourth Switzerland didn’t lost the focus, keeping high the offensive performances despite a bunch of miracles of Croatia’s libero Izabela Stimac, taking home the win 25-20, with an outstanding performance of opposite Maja Storck, who put on the ground 26 points. Best scorer for Croatia was Andrea Mihaljevic with 20 points.
Switzerland showed an outstanding personality and confidence, coming back in the standings from a bad start with two losses, gaining two wins in last two games, now totally on track for an Eight-Finals' spot.
Tomorrow’s games will be Romania-Bulgaria, a very important game for both teams looking out for second place in the Pool, and Italy-Bosnia & Herzegovina, with the home team who will try to keep alive the winning streak and remain in first place.
