Türkiye, Germany, Czechia and Sweden continue #EuroVolleyW journey from Pool C

The quest for highly-coveted spots in the eightfinals concluded in Dusseldorf with Czechia booking the last ticket to Brussels. Thus, the Czechs joined Türkiye, Germany and Sweden, who secured the spots on the other day.
Czechia and Sweden locked horns in the first game of the last day of the pool phase in Dusseldorf. The result of this game decided on the last spot to the eightfinals in an indirect race between Czechia and Azerbaijan. The Czechs entered the court extremely determined to achieve the result and make it a special birthday for their head coach Ioannis Athanasopoulos. The team, powered by Gabriela Orvosova, who tallied in total 18 points with 47% of success in attack, withstood the pressure and stood up against powerful attacks from Isabelle Haak (27 points), winning the game in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-22). In the final standings of Pool C, Czechia jumped to 2nd place, once Sweden is ranked 4th.
Later that evening, unbeaten Türkiye faced the hosts German. The sold-out game, however, turned into a straight-setter. The Germans tried their very best to stop the Sultans of the Net,who showed no mercy in the first two sets. The third part was the most competitive and with a thriller in the end, Germany had their chance to extend the game, but eventually Türkiye earned their fifth win in three sets (25-15, 25-20, 28-26). Brilliant performances have been delivered by Eda Erem Dundar and Zehra Gunes - both scored as many as 12 points apiece, with Gunes recording 4 block stuffs. However, the top scorer honours went obviously to Melissa Vargas who had 18 points to her name. The Sultans of the Net completed the pool phase with perfect record, topping the Pool C standings, Germany finished 3rd.
