Match Report

France crush Greece at home

Article

In a one-way match and with a rich home crowd, France crushed Greece tonight, thus topping the ranking of Pool A. Thanks to great serves and fast game, Tillie’s men were never endangered against a tired team of Greece who played twice in a row.

One of the most cheerful matches in Sud de France Arena so far, today’s battle symbolically ended on a spike by Boyer (24). Tomorrow, the French hosts will be facing Portugal to try and keep on their excellent tracks.

"There was a lot of quality tonight. I think we really managed to analyse the Greek's setter's game. He played well yesterday against Italy but we read him well tonight. In the third set, I felt we lost the rhythm so I proceeded to some substitutions. I really believe our pool is the hardest of all."

Laurent Tillie
France's coach
Head Coach Tillie

"We played against two amazing teams yesterday and today, with different styles though. Tonight, the crowd was full and pushing everyone to play better. We fought from the beginning to the end. Of course, France is a better team and won but we wanted to know how far we were from them. The next matches are the ones we have targeted."
