EuroVolley Ambassador

Ido David

Israel

Profile
Ido David grew up in Kiryat Atta, Israel. The sport wasn't a big part of his early life until 4th grade when he tried Volleyball for the first time. The elementary school PE teacher started a volleyball team and invited David to try out: he started practising and fell increasingly in love with the game.
At 14, he moved to live in a sports boarding school, where he was exposed for the first time to a higher level of Volleyball.
At a young age, he was already part of the starting six, representing his country with respect throughout Europe. In fact, David joined the Israeli youth National Team. At 17, he joined the senior Israeli National Team for the first time, where he trained under a national and Olympic coach with vast Volleyball knowledge.
At 18, he joined the Premier League in Israel and began his journey as a full-fledged volleyball player. The young David played three seasons with Hapoel Matte Asher-Akko (2018-2021), the most decorated team in the Israeli league. At age 21, he decided to experience a different volleyball and combine his studies simultaneously, and he was admitted to the UCLA volleyball team.

“I'm honoured to be selected and to represent my country as a EuroVolley Ambassador for the 2023 European Championship. I'm excited that the EuroVolley will come to Israel, and we will be able to show our fans a great level of Volleyball. I hope this kind of high-level teams and tournament will attract more people, especially young players, into Volleyball and drive them to work hard. I also hope this will help us increase the love and popularity of Volleyball in Israel.”
