    Celine Van Gestel started playing Volleyball when she was very young. At 11, she was selected to join the youth national team of Belgium and the volleyball boarding school in Vilvoorde. 

    When she was 13 years old, the young Belgian started to play for the team ‘Asterix Avo Beveren’, and she played here for 8 years. Then she decided to go and play abroad: Celine played for one season in in the German team Stuttgart, and 3 years in Florence for the Italian team Il Bisonte Firenze.

    During the summer of 2015, she played her first tournament with the Yellow Tigers, and she never missed one since then. Van Gestel always loved to play for her National Team, travelling around the world with her teammates and making memories she will never forget.

    Since last year Van Gestel is am the Captain of team Belgium, and this makes her very proud. Belgium is a small country, so the selection of players is limited, but, according to her words, everyone gives 200% every time they play, and this is what makes them such a strong team.

    "I’m very proud to be an ambassador of the Eurovolley 2023 in our home country Belgium. It is really nice to play in front of our fans, family and friends. They can give us this extra push during the games when it is getting hard, and I hope to achieve good results."

    "Our fans can expect a great tournament with high level volleyball and a nice atmosphere. When I think about our team ‘The Yellow Tigers’, I think about a young team with a lot of fighting spirit and a team that will never give up. Because of those characteristics we already achieved very good results."
