Helsinki to host men's CEV EuroVolley 2021 DOL in late May

Shortly after completion of the remaining qualifiers scheduled for early and mid-May, Belgrade and Helsinki will be playing host to the Drawing of Lots for the eagerly anticipated CEV EuroVolley 2021 Women and Men, respectively. The events scheduled for May 20 and 27 in the capital cities of Serbia and Finland will set the tone for the Volleyball party of the year scheduled to follow later this summer across as many as eight countries.

The iconic Belgrade City Hall will be playing host to the women’s DOL – and it is a very fitting place, since this is where the Serbian national teams have celebrated all of their major international successes together with thousands of fans. The event will feature some of the already announced EuroVolley ambassadors, including Serbian superstar Maja Ognjenović.

A week later, a TV studio of host broadcaster YLE will provide the stage for the men’s DOL in Helsinki.

The events in Belgrade and Helsinki will be taking place with a very limited number of attendees on site - due to the restrictions currently in place to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The 2021 edition of CEV EuroVolley will feature as many as 24 teams per gender for a second time after the history-breaking competition held in 2019 with the same format.

CEV EuroVolley 2021 Men is due to take place from September 1 to 19 in Poland, Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland. The Polish cities of Krakow, Gdansk and Katowice are set to welcome Europe’s elite competition – with Ostrava, Tallinn and Tampere the options chosen by the National Federations of Czech Republic, Estonia and Finland. The competition will be reaching its climax on September 19 in Katowice, crowning the new European champions in men’s Volleyball.
