An emotional day of competition again on the fourth day of the CEV EuroVolley 2021 Women Pool D.

The first match was Finland VS Ukraine. Both teams lost against Netherlands.

Still, the two teams fought really hard and played an intense match, and in the fourth set, they went head-to-head until the 10 point mark. In the end, Finland didn't manage to get the game into a decisive set.

In the second match, host Romania faced Sweden, who came back in extraordinary fashion in this edition. Both teams were not willing to give any point to the opponent. Swedish team defended superbly against Romania’s attacks, and ultimately won the match.

Attack of Căruțașu

Meanwhile, we had the pleasure to interview the rising star for Romania and the top scorer for her team at EuroVolley 2021: the 18 years old Alexia Căruțașu.

In 2018 she debuted in Europe's premier club competition, the CEV Champions League Volley. She started from CSM Bucarest and was a player of VakifBank Istanbul, led by coach Giovanni Guidetti.

Then, she leapt into the world of the big ones with the Yesilyurt. Besides playing for the national team of Romania, Alexia is going to play in Turkey with Galatasaray this season.

Although she is only 18 years old, Căruțașu, who was the opposite, won the Challenge Cup with Yeșilyurt Istanbul last season and the title of MVP of the competition.

She also has the title of Romanian champion with CSM Bucharest, in the 2017/2018 season.

During the interview, we found out more about her career, goals and hopes for #EuroVolleyW.

"Thank you for your time, Alexia. So, we could start with the first question: what does it mean to you to be a rising star of Volleyball?"

Alexia: "To become one of the biggest players from this world was one of my biggest dreams. I still have a lot of work to do, and I want to improve day by day. Step by step, I will start to fulfil my goals."

"What does it mean for you to have a group for the European Championship in your hometown? What does it mean for you to play for your country?"

"I'm glad that we had the chance to play this European championship at home. We worked a lot for it, and I hope the people will come to support us. We will try to give them amazing games against really strong teams."

"What are your and your team's points of strength? What can you and your team improve?"

"I think there's always room for improvement. We can improve our serve, for instance, but we are working hard on all the points".

"Which team would you prefer playing against?"

"I'm looking forward to playing against all the teams, especially against Ukraine, Finland and Sweden. Our main goal is to pass the Poll and qualify for the Final".
