The Dutch-born head coach of Team Switzerland, Saskia van Hintum, has defined the names of the 14 players due to contest CEV EuroVolley 2021 Women later this summer. The Swiss team will travel later this week to Mulhouse to play three friendly matches against France.

Laura Künzler (#14) will captain Team Switzerland at CEV EuroVolley 2021

The Swiss roster for CEV EuroVolley 2021 includes the following 14 players:

Setters: Oriane Hämmerli, Méline Pierret

Outside/opposite hitters: Nicole Eiholzer, Laura Künzler, Korina Perkovac, Maja Storck, Sarah van Rooij, Sarina Wieland

Middle blockers: Madlaina Matter, Godeliv Schwarz, Samira Sulser, Lea Zurlinden

Liberos: Thays Deprati, Flavia Knutti

Switzerland will play in Pool C in Zadar along with co-hosts Croatia, as well as the national teams of Italy, Belarus, Hungary and Slovakia.

Laura Künzler, team captain and a former ASPTT Mulhouse player, is enthusiastic:

“I am very happy, especially since these are the first friendly matches for the national team before the European Championship. I know the arena and the audience in Mulhouse well, but it is not a ‘coming home’. Nevertheless, it is an advantage to have played in the French championship for two years: I already know some players. After these matches, we will know what we still have to work on.”

There will be no live TV broadcast or online streaming of the matches between France and Switzerland.
