CEV EuroVolley 2021 | Women
It was perhaps one of the most awaited moments by volleyball fans: the comeback of Stefana Veljkovic at #EuroVolleyW.
After her maternity leave, the Serbian middle-blocker replied "yes" to Zoran Terzic's call and returned to wear the jersey #11 of Serbia.
Stefana Veljkovic"I feel good. I only did 5 training sessions with the team so it's a bit strange to be back on the court but I feel good physically. It's strange to come back after a year and a half and restart at EuroVolley, a tournament that is not easy. Personally speaking, I'm sure match by match will be better. I've missed all of this so much and I'm so happy to be here."
On February 1, 2021, she gave birth to Luka, son by Serbian middle-blocker Srecko Lisinac.
“The hardest time I had after deciding to return was finding a woman who was with my baby, leaving him and coming here. Luka is here in Belgrade in the hotel with me, he sleeps with me, but it was not very easy and I had to push for this kind of separation for me too."
The ovation of the 5900 volleyball fans at the Stark Arena in Belgrade when she entered the field against Bosnia & Herzegovina was like goosebumps.
Stefana Veljkovic“I was so happy when I received Zoran's call because I stopped for a year and a half and didn't expect to be here playing EuroVolley. I talked to Zoran, he asked me to be here and train for EuroVolley, and then we would decide based on how everything was going and how I was feeling. I can only say thank you to him and the Serbian Federation because they organized everything for my child too, allowing me to concentrate on the competition."
Stefana is finally back and what she is sure of right now is the love she feels for volleyball and little Luka.
Stefana Veljkovic“Volleyball is my life and also my love. Combining my two loves now, Luka and volleyball, is not that easy, he sleeps with me and occasionally wakes up at 5 or 6 in the morning but now I have the rhythm and it is normal for me.”
