Third win in a row for Italy in Pool B

It was a great volleyball showdown last night at Arena di Monza, with the clash between defending champs Italy and Bulgaria, the two undefeated teams in Pool B.

Another amazing night of volleyball, with Italian team who defeated 3-0 Bulgaria, after a great game in front of a huge and enthusiastic crowd.

As last night in Italy-Switzerland game, the Arena di Monza was full of a fantastic, warm and noisy crowd, one of the (numerous) big show of the audiences in EuroVolley 2023.

The enthusiasm of Arena di Monza

It was an impressive win for Italy over Bulgaria, a clear 3-0 in favour of Davide Mazzanti’s team, who played probably the best game since the start of the tournament. Best scorer for the Azzurre was, while was second best scorer with.

Bulgaria fought hard from the start until the end, but struggled in front the power of Italy in attack and in the middle. First set ended 25-16 with a great offensive effort by Ekaterina Antropova, while the second was another quick one, ended 25-17 in favour of Italy. The third was even more quicker, 25-13 for the Azzurre, who easily took home the third win in Pool B.

The Italian huddle after a point

Italy seems to gain rhythm and confidence game by game, warming up looking out for the elimination games.

Never say never in Volleyball, but Italian girls are showing their strength, improving their performances set by set, confirming themselves as the top favourite for the gold.

Now the teams will have a day off, moving to Torino for the last two games of the Pool starting tomorrow.

Italy is atop the standings with three wins and no losses, in front of Bulgaria and Bosnia & Herzegovina with two wins and one loss, Romania and Switzerland with one win and two losses, and Croatia still winless with three losses.

Italian blockers at work

Italy seems to be without rivals in this Pool at this moment, but they have to keep the focus on next upcoming two games, to be sure of first place after the five games of the Pool.
