EuroVolleyW 2023: Italy approaching tough Quarter-Final versus France

EuroVolley Quarter-Finals start today at Palazzo Wanny in Florence, with the Netherlands who will face Bulgaria, and home team and defending champs Italy facing France. The two winners will fly to Brussels for Semifinals next friday 1st September

It’s EuroVolley Quarter-Finals’ time at Palazzo Wanny in Florence, with The Netherlands who will face Bulgaria in first game of the day, and with defending champs home team Italy who will play versus France, in a very interesting challenge, a classic of European sport in all the disciplines.

France is coming from a good win in Eight-Finals over Romania, a 3-1 win for Les Bleus, with a good performance of opposite Lucille Gicquel with 18 points (a player who plays with Cuneo, in Italian League), clinching the Quarter-Final spot versus the Azzurre.

French girls had some good performances in Pool D in Tallinn (EST), finishing in second place behind The Netherlands, Emile Rousseaux’s team had only one loss in Estonia, losing 1-3 by The Netherlands but fighting hard all game long losing fourth set at the extras 24-26, playing anyway good volleyball in the Pool while defeating all the other teams, Estonia, Spain, Finland and Slovakia,

Italy is coming from six uncontested wins in Pool B and Eight-Finals, without losing a set, a real dominance until now for the defending champs in EuroVolley.

Romania, Switzerland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Croatia in Pool B, and Spain in Eight-Finals are the teams stunned by the Azzurre in the tournament, the Italian squad put on court a bunch of impressive performances as a team.

Davide Mazzanti’s team was almost perfect in all the games, but now they will have to keep up the focus, because it’s Quarter-Final’s time and they don’t have to underestimate their opponent, and France is a strong opponent.

For Italy all players in all roles are playing an outstanding EuroVolley, but powerful Savino Del Bene Scandicci’s opposite Ekaterina Antropova (playing in front of her fans at Palazzo Wanny in Scandicci, Florence suburbs) is showing great confidence and leadership despite the young age (20 year old), taking on her shoulders all the offensive duties and responsabilities for Davide Mazzanti’s attack.

The Azzurre are the favourites of this upcoming Quarter-Final versus France, but never say never in Volleyball, because Les Bleus are a tough team, who can put in troubles all the opponents, as they did in Pool D versus The Netherlands.

Another great Volleyball showdown at Palazzo Wanny in Florence with two Quarter-Finals, The Netherlands-Bulgaria and Italy-France, another emotional night for all Volleyball fans.

After these two Quarter-Finals in Florence, the Semifinals and the Finals will be played at Paleis 12 in Brussels, starting from next friday 1st September.
