Türkiye and Serbia into the Semifinals of the CEV EuroVolley 2023

The quarterfinals of the CEV EuroVolley 2023 concluded in style today at the Palais 12 arena in Brussels, showcasing some of the best volleyball we’ve seen so far in the competition. At the end of today, the full semifinalists’ panel was revealed, with Türkiye and Serbia joining Italy and The Netherlands in the final weekend.

The day started off with a huge bang, as Türkiye and Poland went head to head in a packed arena. The Polish started off on the right foot, confidently striking the ball and reaching deep for digs that most would’ve considered to be a lost cause, leading with as many as 4 points at the middle point of the first set.

Türkiye as not shaken by Poland’s confident start to the match and began fighting their way back into the set and the match. Despite an exceptional contest throughout, Daniele Santarelli’s side continued to be in control, powered by yet another stunning performance from Melissa Vargas, totaling 24pts on the night.

The last quarterfinal, between Serbia and Czechia started off with Tijana Boskovic and her teammates being stunned by a very strong start from the Czechs, forcing Serbia to concede the opener. That seemed to be what was needed to really bring the match to life. Serbia grew stronger and stronger, dominating every aspect of the game and claiming the win in four sets, with it the final spot available in the semifinals of the CEV EuroVolley 2023.
