On Saturday, August 20th, the Ukrainian women's national volleyball team will play the first match of the CEV EuroVolley 2023 Qualifiers in the Klimeška Sports Hall against Cyprus.

Ukraine has been training in Kutná Hora since the beginning of August and the Central Bohemian town will be their base for the whole qualification period. For their next "home" match, the Ukrainians will move to Tábor on 28th August to face the Portuguese. The last match against the Hungarian volleyball team will take place again in Kutná Hora on 7th September.

The Ukrainian national team will play 6 matches in qualifying group C. They will play in Hungary on 24th August, in Portugal on 4th September and will finish their fight for qualifying to the CEV EuroVolley 2023 on 10th September in Cyprus. In the current CEV rankings, the Ukrainians are in 13th place, the Hungarians are in 22nd position, the Portuguese are another two places back and the Cypriots are 35th. Coach Ivan Petkov's team is thus the favourite on paper.

"We have quite a lot of information about our opponents in the qualifying group. We played against Hungarian team in the CEV European Golden League, and last season we met Portugal. I think that the Hungarian and Portuguese teams will be our main competitors in the fight to qualify for the CEV EuroVolley 2023"

manager of the Ukrainian national team

"Although we are rejuvenating the team, the task of the national selection is to reach the CEV EuroVolley 2023 finals. We played two preparatory matches against the Czech volleyball players, which were very useful and eventful for our young team. These matches showed us what we need to work on to achieve our goals," revealed Yegiazarov the high ambitions of the Ukrainian selection.

For volleyball fans, the last weekend of the summer season will offer an attractive spectacle, when the Czech players will face the team from Montenegro in their qualifying group B on Saturday 27th August in Tábor. One day later, the Ukrainians will play their match against the volleyball players from Portugal. Fans of high net play will get a double dose of quality volleyball.
