    North Macedonia is challenging Spain in the first match of day 6 in Pool C

    Winning one set against Finland is not enough for North Macedonia in this campaign, since they achieved two wins in Ljubljana at the 2019 Final edition.
    This season's silver league finalist will now meet the golden league 7th Spain, so this match is like a test of level between these two series.
    Spain – like North Macedonia – are still without a win in Tampere. They managed to win a set against Turkey in a very close game.
    This is why Spain and North Macedonia now share an equal result in the table in Pool C. Before this match they also have equally met three countries: Turkey, Finland and the Netherlands.

      Hakametsä Icehall is just less than 4 km from the city centre and it is easily achievable walking or with you own car, taxi or bus. You can walk from city centre to venue in 45 minutes and see beautiful sites of Tampere at the same time. By bus you can found Hakametsä with many diffrent buslines: 3A, 3B, 6, 9A, 17, 25, 29A, 29B, 40A, 80. All these bring you to less than half kilometer from the venue. By car you can found venue (address Keltinkatu 2) next to Hervannan valtaväylä on eastside of the citycentre. Parking places next to the venue are limited during EuroVolley. Get directions

    Match Report

    Spain team found its rhythm and defeated North Macedonia

    Team Spain improved their team attacking skills and blocking power in a decisive moment to secure a 3-1 victory over North Macedonia.

     


    They needed some fresh power from the bench as Ramon Ferragut came in in the 3rd set. Andrés Villena found his rhythm to score totally 26 points. Setter Angel Trinidad de Haro had a joyful match to find best positions to his attackers.
    Especially the setter backcourt rotations were positive for Spain. Also, they could afford even some mistakes in attacking and still find their motions in play.
    Some blocking action by Spain was required as North Macedonia improved during the second and third set. Middle blocker Borja Ruiz scored a fair amount of 17 points in the match.

     


    North Macedonia moved twice ahead already in the first set but they could not keep their momentum.  Nikola Georgiev (26 points in the match) and Aleksandar Ljaftov (13 points) after another setter Flip Despotovski came in early in the match.

    “We are very happy with the performance as well as with the result, even though this victory does not change much when it comes to our chances to progress to the next round of the competition. Still, this victory is important for our morale. We were a bit more stable and made fewer mistakes than we made in the previous matches, especially towards the end of the sets – and this is what made the difference, combined with more quality in our service and block.”
