Czech Republic remain undefeated in Pool F, after winning their third consecutive match. The Czech team faced Slovenia on Saturday and after a setback in the first set, they managed to bounce back and claim a 3-1 victory. The winning streak puts Czech Republic in a good position ahead of the second Tournament that is due to take place between 14th and 16th of May in Bosnia & Herzegovina.

• Darja ERŽEN (SLO) and Gabriela Orvosova (CZE) were once again the best scorers in their respective teams, scoring 21 points each

• Veronika TRNKOVA and Magdalena JEHLAROVA performed well in block, scoring 4 points each for Czech Republic

• Czech Republic did well at the service line, scoring 8 aces collectively

• Slovenia fell behind in service and attack, but kept close to Czech Republic in blocking element, scoring 9 points

• The loss puts Slovenia in third position in Pool F table, but their chances to reach the #EuroVolleyW are very much alive

Ioannis ATHANASOPOULOS, coach of Czech Republic: “We are very happy with 3 victories. Not everything went as we planned, especially in the first set, but from second set I think we were more patient, we played aggressively and deserved victory.”

Alessandro CHIAPPINI, coach of Slovenia: “Today we played against a very consistent team and I think that my players started very good. We were fighting a lot, then slowly they started to push a little bit more, we got some trouble again with reception and we could not play the game comfortably. I’m very sorry, because we’ve made some easy mistakes, we’ve lost the ball easily and probably that destroyed the result in the second set. It could have been a different game then. We are team with some problems, that we are trying to manage. Qualification is not closed – we have to believe and get ready for the second tournament”.
