This was a very important match for both teams, since a win meant the qualification for the second round and more specifically for the 8^th finals.

Belarus were in a slightly more favourable position in the early stages of the match and when they had an 8-5 lead, it seemed they would push the advantage even further, but Hanna Klimets, the best player of the first set, made a mistake from the service line and the point went to the Hungarians. Belarus edged ahead again at 15-12, but they did not manage to keep the advantage, so Hungary turned the score around at 20-19 and with the help of an ace by Anett Nemeth and two more points by Gréta Szakmary, they won the first set 25-20.

The Hungarians had no problem winning the second set too, and they did so by a landslide 25-14. Belarus coach Stanislav Salikov checked his bench, trying to find replacements, but it did not quite work as Hungary remained in full control. They did not make a single mistake serving or at serve reception in the first two sets. The only points they gave away were from their just three unforced errors.

Only when setter Anastasiya Kananovich, together with middle blocker Nadzeya Vladyka and outside spiker Vera Kastsiuchyk entered the game, did Belarus regroup to win the third set 25-16. They kept the lead during the fourth set as well (18-12, 21-15), but the Hungarians managed to grab their tail and almost evened it out at 23-22. However, Belarus kept it together and won the fourth set 25-23 to go for a decider.

Belarus kept their cool throughout the tiebreaker as well and managed to win the game 3-2. Hats down to a team that came back from 0-2 to take an all-important victory!
