The Guidettis’ clash- Interview with Giovanni and Ettore

The fifth day of Pool D at #EuroVolleyW opened with the match between two group favourites: Turkey and Sweden.
The winner of the Cousins Guidetti battle is Giovanni Guidetti, as Turkey wins the match 3-0.
The Guidettis are not only cousins: they also are Turkey’s and Sweden’s coach, two teams that aim to reach far at this CEV EuroVolley 2021 edition.
We had the pleasure to interview Giovanni and Ettore before today’s match.
First of all, thank you for your time. We can start with the first question: what do you admire about each other's team?
Giovanni: “Ettore is doing a great job, his team is improving a lot: there’s one player that I know very well, Bella Haak, and they have two other stronger attackers, Anna Haak and Alexandra Lazic. The team has a lot of power in attack and we should be very very careful about them”.
Ettore: "Turkey is a new and old at the same time team in this competition. I mean, they have been ranking high in the last 10-15 years, so I love the way they develop as a team. Turkey was not so high ranked a few years ago, but they have developed a lot, and they're now one of the best teams not only in Europe but also in the whole world. So they are a kind of example that I would love to have also with my team!"
What do you think about your cousin as a coach?
Giovanni: “Everytime he goes anywhere, he’s creating great projects. The job he’s doing with Sweden is fantastic. He knows volleyball very well and he studied a lot, so I'm very happy for him”.
Ettore: "In my opinion, Giovanni is one of the best three coaches in the world. I cannot rank because it's a question with several facts and also as he is a part of my family. But still, I think that he's one of the best coaches in the world."
If you should shortly describe your team to the fans, what would you say?
Giovanni: “We’re a fighting team: we can have some ups and downs, we don’t have any star players and, for this reason, we play as a team and with a great spirit”.
Ettore: “We are a team, happy to play. The team should enjoy playing volleyball. That's the thing that I care about the most. Day by day, minute by minute, ball after ball, we show everyone that we don't give up. We keep going and trying to do our best."
What are your expectations for this CEV EuroVolley 2021 edition?
Giovanni: “With this team, we’re playing every tournament for a medal. We don’t change our target, we’ll try everything we can to take a medal at home”.
Ettore: “We try to play every time a little better. We are not here for a medal or any specific placement. As for us, it's a huge and fantastic experience to be part of EuroVolley. We started with a first win. Although it was a tough win, we hope to have another victory.”
Who will win the CEV EuroVolley 2021 edition?
Giovanni: “Turkey. If not Turkey, I hope Sweden will win EuroVolley 2021!”
Ettore: “There are very high level teams. Maybe I would love to see a final about Sweden and Turkey”.
