EuroVolleyW 2023 speeds up as on Thursday the games will be played across all four venues. In Germany, in Dusseldorf, the match-up between Germany and Greece will kick-off the rivalry in Pool C.

Germany, who under the guidance of Vital Heynen reached the VNL final stage for the first time ever, finishing 8th, definitely aim to open their home campaign on a high note. Two years ago, the German national team finished 11th at EuroVolley, but this year they definitely dream about repeating the success from 2013 when they also co-hosted the event, winning their last medal. Germany is among the EuroVolley regulars, competing at every edition since reunification and winning in this period of time two silver and two bronze medals.

On the other hand, Greece will make their seventh - and third consecutive - appearance at the EuroVolley. Although they are not favourites, they will definitely try to show their best volleyball. In May 2023, Yunus Ocal was appointed as the head coach of the Greece women's national team, brining new energy to the team that also wants to fight for one of the spots in the eight-finals. In the game against Germany they have nothing to lose, so we can expect them to fight fearlessly for every point.
