Head-to-Head

· Poland and Spain meet for the third time in European championships. Poland won 3-0 in 2007 and 3-2 in 2009, both in the group stage.

Poland

· Poland finished second in Pool B on four wins and one defeat. Their only loss was a 3-2 against Belgium.
· Poland have lost four of their last five knockout matches in European championships, with the only exception a 3-2 win over Belarus in the play-offs for the quarter-finals in 2015.
· Poland reached at least the quarter-finals in six of their last eight European championship appearances (2003-2017). In this run they only failed to reach the last eight in 2013 and 2017.
· Poland won their last European championship match 3-2 versus Italy. Malwina Smarzek-Godek won a team-high 23 points, including three aces.
· In their match against Italy, Poland outserved their opponents 12-5, but won fewer points from attack (51-68) and stuff blocks (5-6).

Spain

· Spain finished fourth in Pool D on two wins and three defeats. They defeated Belarus 3-1 and Switzerland 3-2.
· Spain could win three matches at one European championship for the first time. They also won twice in the 2009 edition.
· Spain lost their only previous European championship knockout match, a 3-0 defeat against Turkey in the play-offs for the quarter-finals in 2011.
· Spain have won their last three five-setters in European championships.
· Ana Escamilla scored a match-high 16 points in their defeat against Russia in their most recent European championship match.
