The match between Switzerland and Romania opened the 3rd and last day of the first-leg tournament of the Pool E in Nitra, Slovakia. Switzerland didn't start the game well, but a lost first set was like a cold showed for a team under guidance of Mario Motta. Swiss block became a powerful weapon for the team in the second set, also in the third part they were also a dominant force being by Jovan Djokic, who performed excellent in reception and attack scoring in total 8 points in this set. Romania were motivated to stop Switzerland on their march to victory, but Swiss players withstood a pressure to eventually tip the balance in their favour. Earning their second victory in Nitra they reached a solid position ahead of the second tournament.
