Albania trailed throughout the whole of the first set and in fact only led for the very first time at set point, 24-23, before coming away with their only second set in this pool.

But Romania were very quick to react and led by top scorer Ionut Balean who brought in 21 points promptly took control and sailed on to their four-set win.

Gabriel Cherbeleata added another 17 point for Romania, who scored their second victory in the pool - having already beaten Albania in the first leg as well.

Albania's best scorer was Anton Qafarena with 14 points.

Romania outside hitter Rares Balean: "We probably didn't expect Albania to be more resilient than in the last match in Slovakia, but I'm glad we managed and mobilised to win the match. Even if we lost the first set, the victory matters. I am glad that we won the match and that we managed to progress and evolve in our game, which I hope will improve from match to match, and tomorrow we will play much better volleyball in an important match. They came up with another setter compared to the one they played with in Slovakia, but we adapted quickly."

Romania opposite Gabriel Cherbeleata: "We had a difficult start to the match, considering that their starting setter came back and it was from our side our first setter was injured. We are glad that we won, we started a little shaky, but in the end I think the difference could be seen between us and them. Tomorrow is a difficult match but we want to win, to qualify for the Europeans. We studied them, we will watch them again tomorrow. They did not surprise us with anything last week - it was our unforced errors that made the match go in their favor. But tomorrow we hope that the result of the match will be completely different."

Albania outside hitter Redjo Koci: "I know the Romanian National Team well because I played here last year. Out team has young players and they need to be competitive. This was a big game for their experience. Tomorrow against Slovakia will be a difficult game for us."

Albania coach Ioannis Melka: "This was our second game against Romania and we learned before the match that thier first setter would not play. It was a little difficult to make our play against Romania. Romania is Romania and was favorite in this game. We have a young team, a new team, and our setter came here two days before, but we must try again."
