      Ostravar Arena is a multifunctional hall in Ostrava, located in the Ostrava-South district. It was completed in 1986 and at the time, it was the largest and most modern hall in Europe. First reconstruction took place between 2003 and 2004, the other in the year 2012. The capacity of this Aren is 10 157 seats. Ostravar Arena is the home stadium of the extra-league hockey club Vítkovice.       TRAVELLING BY CAR In the direction from the D1 motorway it is exit 354. It is best to drive along Rudná Street, then along Závodní Street.     Match Report

    Italy vs Belarus

    Article 3 September 2021

    The opening game of Ostrava’s group B went great for the Italian players. The quarterfinalists from Tokyo defeated Belarus without breaking a sweat 3:0 (25:18, 25:12, 25:15).

     

    The match was even for the first 8 points in the opening set when the score was 4:4. After that, Italian opposite Giulio Pinali scored two aces which were supported by a successful block. The Belarus coach took his time out however it did not help at all. His players were unable to beat Italy high blocks. Another time out was taken by coach Beksha at 11:4 but it was too late. The Italia players were unstoppable. Outside hitter duo Alessandro Michieletto and Giulio Pinali finished on their attacks which led into the winning of the first set.

     

    The rest of the match took place under similar conditions. In the second set Italy turned the score around from 0:2 to astonishing 11:2 and their opponents had no clue how to stop them. In the last part of the game, the Italian machine slightly stopped working. They made some mistakes leading to Belarus scoring four points in a row. Unfortunately, it was not enough. Italy regained their lead and with no further issues took the victory in the game.

     

    Viktar Beksha, Belarusian coach: “We were able to play an even game only for the first couple of points. After that Giulio Pinali went to serve and he totally broke the psyche of our team. He served explosively and thanks to that our opponent gained a huge lead. Italians have surprised me, I did not expect them to play such a quick a great game at the beginning of the tournament. They had great blocks and defense. I firmly believe we can definitely play better and prove it in the next game.“

     

    Ferdinando De Giorgi, Italian coach: “I am very happy with today’s performance. I think we played a good match in terms of quality. I want to praise my team for its concentration during the game especially in the third set. When you are leading 2:0 it is always difficult to calm down the players because you still must win the last set. Belarus had a nice sequence when they scored many points from service. We still played our game and made it work. We are very happy for the 3:0 victory.”
