With this win, Belarus has still a hope of getting promoted from the group thanks to their 3:0 win (25:23, 25:21, 25:12).

Montenegro’s players started very well when their precise attack sparked a 5:1 lead. Belarus made many mistakes and was unable to defend their opponent’s biggest weapon – outside spiker Marko Vukasinovic. When their defence and serve got better, they started to close the gap. Vladislav Babkevich equalized with a super spike in the middle of the first set (14:14). Montenegro regained the lead after two successful blocks in a row. However Belarus answered with the same thing followed by Miskevich’s ace. Thanks to that they won the opening set.

The encouraged Belarusians began the second set with a bang and took an early lead 4:0. Their opponent played patiently in attack and completely turned the score around (5:7). Later Belarus had a strong passage of serve and from that Montenegro made mistakes. After an equalization (11:11), Belarus won couple of points in a row and led 17:14. This time they won the set with certainty.

The Belarus players were much better in the final part of the game. Not only they serving well, but their blocks and attack were also amazing. They led from the beginning and without breaking a sweat won this match.

Viktar Beksha, Belarus coach: “We were so nervous at the beginning of today’s game. We made so many unforced errors. Our opponent’s best player Cacic didn’t start but nonetheless they led thanks to great serve and our mistakes. It was so important that we handled the first set. It helped to our psyche. After that it was easier. Now we have a match ahead of us against Bulgaria and I firmly believe that for the first time in the history we will play CEV EuroVolley round of sixteen.”

Veljko Basic, Montenegro coach: “We started one more time very well but again we threw away the first set by our mistakes. This thing has limited my team during the tournament. I am so disappointed that we lost every match.”
