Highlights
Overview
The hosts of the EuroVolley Pool C, Croatia have a perfect record at the halfway through the preliminary stage. Three straight-set wins gave Croatia a leader position and they hope to improve further their winning streak in the match against Hungary. Croatia impresses with the strength of their attack as captain Samanta Fabris can count on a solid support from Lucija Mlinar, Laura Milos and middle blocker Bozana Butigan. On the other side of the net, Hungary will try to cause a surprise, they lost their game against Italy on Sunday and after winning their first match against Slovakia, and suffering a defeat in tie-break from Switzerland they will be seeking their chances in every match. Team captain Greta Szakmary proved how powerful spiker she is already in the previous games, but the question is if it can be enough to stop Croatia.

Samanta Fabris“It is another victory and another three points and we are obviously happy with this, but that was for sure not our best Volleyball. We – as much as Hungary – made too many mistakes, especially in the first set. Tomorrow we will be playing against Italy; we know the quality of their team and we are aware that they stand a level higher than us and all of the other teams here, but tomorrow is a new day and a new game!”
Captain of Croatia
Anett Nemeth“I think that what made the difference was that we had some long periods when we kept making mistakes and we could not come out of it fast. In my opinion, it was decisive. Croatia also did not play flawlessly, and they committed mistakes too, but it was not for as long as we did. When we made all these mistakes, they went ahead by five or six points, leaving us behind. We have to fix it for tomorrow. We still have a game to play and we still have a chance to go to the next round.”
