      Saku Suurhall is a multi-purpose indoor arena in the Estonian capital Tallinn. Opened in November 2001, it is the largest multi-purpose hall in the country and holds slightly more than 7000 seats. It generally hosts basketball games, as well as other sport competitions, trade fairs, corporate events and concerts. In 2002 Saku Suurhall hosted Eurvision Song Contest. Over the years many international pop and rockstars have performed there. Just to name few - Sting, Ed Sheeran, Bob Dylan, Biffy Clyro, R.E.M., Metallica etc. 2019 Men’s European Golden League Final Four also took place in this hall. Capacity: 5000

      Visitors coming by car have more comfortable possibilities for parking on the sides and in front of the hall. The parking lots of the adjacent shopping centres remain also nearby. Eurovolley FanZone is located in Vabaduse väljak (Freedom Square). From September 1st to 9th free shuttle buses are operating en route Vabaduse väljak - Saku Suurhall - Vabaduse väljak. Exact timetables and further details will be available at FanZone information booth. The public transport bring visitors right to Haabersti bus stop located just in front of Suurhall. The buses no 22 (from Vabaduse väljak), 42 (from Kaubamaja) and 43 (from Balti jaam) drive regularly from the city centre to the hall. Get directions

    Hermans comes from a family where sportsmanship runs deep (father–judo, mother–rowing/swimming), which led him to try basketball initially. By the age of 11, he decided to join Riga volleyball school. Egleskalns tried beachvolley, but once he had an opportunity to try out for Rovaniemi Perpo in FIN, he decided to be the best he can be in indoor. He has a national titles in FIN/BEL/GRE/FRA.

    Slovakia hope to record their first victory at EuroVolleyM 2021. On Monday, they face Latvia in the first match of Day 6 in Pool D. The Slovaks started the tournament with a 0-3 defeat to pool favorites team France, and continued with a 2-3 thriller against co-hosts of the tournament Estonia. Latvia’s EuroVolleyM 2021 journey started off extremely well, with a surprising 3-1 win over Estonia. However, in their next match against Croatia, the team had to leave the court disappointed with a 2-3 loss. With both Slovakia and Latvia fighting hard for progressing to the next stage of the tournament, fans can expect the teams to put up a great battle today.

    Slovakia open the standings winning the tie break

    Slovakia claimed their first victory at EuroVolleyM 2021, after a five-set thriller against Latvia. This outcome means that all teams of Pool D are still in the running for qualifying to the next stage of the tournament. While two favourites France and Germany can feel comfortable at the top, Latvia, Estonia, Croatia and Slovakia will fight for “All or Nothing” in the upcoming days.

     

    Latvia did not get a good start of the game, giving Slovakia a solid lead which continued to grow during the set. Latvia had trouble finishing their attacks, while Slovakia recorded the impressive 7 block points in the first set.

     

    Once again Latvia got off to a rocky start and fell behind 13-19. However, the Latvians were not ready to give up just yet. Stepping up their own block game this time, Avo Keel’s team got back on their feet, and ended the set 25-23 with another block by Atvars Ozolins.

     

    Inspired by their impressive comeback, Latvia took off strong in the third set and with a solid 63% attack against Slovakia’s 35% took the 2-1 set lead.

     

    Tables had turned around again in the fourth set. Slovakia, clearly willing to take the game to the fifth set, put up an inspired performance to take a 25-19 win of the set.

     

    Slovakia were unstoppable in the fifth set. Taking a 9-2 lead was enough to secure the game 15-7.

This is a very precious victory for us as Latvia is one of our main opponents for qualifying to the playoffs. The situation is very interesting in our pool right now and our focus is set on the upcoming match with Croatia.”
