Pool A - Montpellier

12 Stephen BOYER

When France play well Stephen Boyer is quite often the French top scorer, and that was the case against Romania.  In a game that the home side always looked like they had an element of control, more often than not it was Boyer who would deliver the decisive points across the sets.  Whilst the match may be remembered for some incredible defensive shots, it is points that count and in an opening day win for the host country Boyer shone brightest.

Pool C - Ljubljana

4 Jan Kozamernik

Team Slovenia showed their home crowd an overall great performance, dominating their opponents Belarus in their first EuroVolley 2019 Men game in Ljubljana. Besides fantastic defence and precise setting, great serving was one of the keys to victory and Jan Kozamernik was instrumental in making that element work to the hosts’ advantage. The 23-years-old middle-blocker shares the title of the best scorer of the match with his teammates Tine Urnaut and Mitja Gasparini (12 points each), while also being the best server of the matchup, with three aces to his name.
